While taking a break at work one day, a costumer asked me if I did the signs around the cafe. After I told her that it was true, she asked if I did other artwork, something she could put up in her gallery window! I quickly made friends with her and gave her one of my brand-spanking new business cards. Her gallery is also her studio and as I helped her put my work up in the window, I learned a lot about her experience as a working artist. My interest in the gallery world is growing and this was wonderful fuel for the fire. I lucked out!

might as well post up...

Hi everyone, I'm glad to see that people are actively posting on this blog; this thing really has a lot of potential (kudos, Micah). Anyway, now that school's over, I've had a little bit of time to work on ideas for oil paintings that I never got around to during the this thing:

graphite on Bristol paper, 8.5" x 11"

I've wanted to paint a still-life for a while now, but I thought it would be more interesting to take a more surreal approach. As always, any thoughts and criticism are more than welcome. Good luck to everyone, and keep painting!

Memory and Dreams

Hey guys. A drawing I made to illustrate my Memory and Dreams Final Project. I took the opportunity to experiment a little. This is a micron/sharpie drawing scanned into Photoshop and placed over scanned watercolor washes. I really like the way it came out. I keep playing with the idea of getting it as a tattoo.....maybe.

Take care! I'll see you all on Friday :)

just for fun :)

congrats everyone! (be seeing u on Friday)

"Peartalk" or "Gossip" acrylic and colored pencil on wood

This is small painting I did for fun. It came from a small sketch I did on graph paper. What a treasure sketchbooks are! I have really come to see them as sources of inspiration. This strange little picture was born from my liking to paint from observation and my wish to be funny.

Past and Present

Hey All,

I figured it was about time I get to posting on this thing. So here it is, its just something I did for Digital Illustration. Nothing too impressive. I'm going into my Junior year of illustration, just so you know where I stand in the scheme of things in Illustration. I agree with Michael, props to Micah for setting this thing up for all of us. It is greatly appreciated, at least from my end. The idea behind this blog is sweet, so I hope it will come together over time and really bring a sense of community among Mass Art's past and present Illustration majors. Though I must admit I'm probably one those illustration majors that contributes to the lack of community.

Live Well,

Polite words or a sign of welcome or recognition.

Hey everybody, glad to be on board!
(My name is Lenny by the way ...)

This is a portait of me when I'll be sixty.

(Should this blog be broadened from "MassArt Illustration Students & Graduates" to also include animation and GD students? Simply because they share the 9th floor ... I'm just saying)
